Distance-Learning Course Offerings

Many PCC Graduate Studies and Pensacola Theological Seminary courses are available to complete in your own home, one course at a time, allowing you to continue your present ministry and responsibilities. The video-recorded courses offer you the same quality instruction on-campus students receive while you study at your own pace, when and where it is convenient for you. Most of our graduate and seminary degrees permit up to one third of their courses to be taken via distance learning.

BIV 500 New Testament Fundamentals (3) ONLINE
This course will survey the books of the New Testament for the student without previous academic exposure to the Bible. Major themes and writers will be examined.

BIV 503 Advanced New Testament (3) ONLINE
Prereq.: BIV 500 or New Testament Survey on undergraduate level.
Students examine all three disciplines of Advanced New Testament studies (history/background, New Testament Introduction, and New Testament biblical theology) from the perspective of the absolute integrity of the New Testament text. These three disciplines are applied to the understanding of the New Testament books as well as the personal and practical application of the New Testament to life and ministry.

BIV 510 Old Testament Fundamentals (3) ONLINE
This course will survey the books of the Old Testament for the student without previous academic exposure to the Bible.

BIV 513 Advanced Old Testament (3) ONLINE
Prereq.: BIV 510 or Old Testament Survey on undergraduate level.
This course is an in-depth study of the Old Testament focusing on Old Testament backgrounds, the contents of the four Old Testament divisions (Pentateuch, Books of History, Books of Wisdom and Poetry, and the Major and Minor Prophets), and the major covenants of the Old Testament. God’s unfolding plan to redeem and bless all people through the Messiah is examined and appreciated.

BIV 519 Post-Exhilic Prophets (3) VIDEO
The focus of this course is on the Books of Haggai, Zechariah, Esther, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Malachi. A study will be made of God’s dealing with Israel after the exile.

BIV 520 I & II Thessalonians (3) VIDEO
An in-depth look at the church in Thessalonica, studying the start of the church in Acts 17, and a verse-by-verse exposition of the two books.

BIV 537 God’s Church through the Ages (3) VIDEO
This course will examine the historical Church established by God from its foundation to the present.

BIV 538 Church Trends and Changes in the Last Century (3) VIDEO
The student will identify and critique the leaders, philosophy, and methodology of the major movements in American Christianity during the twentieth century. This course may be taken to meet D.Min. or M.Min. requirements.

BIV 543 History of American Education (3) VIDEO
This course provides an overview of the historical and philosophical events and ideas which contributed to the development of present-day American education. The course also examines the present religious state of public education and the Christian school as the right alternative.

BI 547 Epistle of James (3) ONLINE
This course is a verse by verse study of the Epistle of James. Students will focus on practical Christian living with an emphasis on such topics as trials, temptation, and faith and works.

BIV 564 Ezekiel (3) VIDEO
An in-depth exposition of Ezekiel with a threefold emphasis on the glory and holiness of God, the seriousness and ramifications of sin, and the distinction of Israel and the Church. There will be a focus on the practical principles and applications for daily living and successful service for the Lord.

BIV 607 Tabernacle, Feasts, and Offerings (3) VIDEO
A study of the beautiful imagery, symbolism, and prophetic significance of the Old Testament tabernacle, feasts, and offerings. Emphasis is placed upon the practical application of biblical truth to life and service. It is the instructor’s desire that you see Christ as the fulfillment of these prefigures in the Old Testament.

BIV 613 Joshua, Judges, and Ruth (3) VIDEO
An exposition of the books of Joshua, Judges, and Ruth aiming at a greater understanding of Old Testament theology through a detailed study of the content of the books.

BIV 614 Revelation (3) ONLINE
An exposition of the Book of Revelation with emphasis placed upon Christ as the central Person of the book. Emphasis is placed upon the practical lessons of faithfulness and service to God in these final days before Christ’s return.

BIV 618 I & II Corinthians (3) VIDEO
In this course, special attention will be given to the church problems addressed by Paul: factionalism; immorality; church discipline; Christians taking other believers to court; and marriage, divorce and remarriage. The course will also note the teachings of Paul on the use of spiritual gifts, questions relating to food, public worship, the significance of the resurrection of Christ, full-time vocational ministry, and the importance of giving to the local church.

An exposition of the Book of Romans aiming at much greater depth than it is possible to achieve in a survey course.

BIV 640 Doctrine and History of Preservation of the Text (3) ONLINE
This graduate course in Bibliology explores the biblical and historical definition of the preservation of the Holy Bible. The class examines the history of the doctrine of preservation as well as the history of biblical truth in its manuscript and printed form. This course may be taken to meet D.Min. or M.Min. requirements.

BIV 673 Proverbs (3) VIDEO
The wisdom shared through the Book of Proverbs contains practical lessons for the Christian today. This course will examine the practical application of wisdom to daily living

BIV 684 Life and Teachings of Jesus (3) ONLINE
This course is a presentation on the life and teachings of Jesus based on a harmony of the four Gospels. Helpful backgrounds from the intertestamental period are referenced.

BLV 645 Hebrew I (3) ONLINE
A beginning analysis of elementary Hebrew including: alphabet, vowels, nouns, particles, adjectives, and other parts of speech. The student focuses on learning the strong verb system and basic vocabulary while translating passages from the Book of Genesis.

BLV 646 Hebrew II (3) VIDEO
Prereq.: BLV 645 or one semester undergraduate Hebrew.
A continuation of vocabulary, grammar, and syntax. The student will be introduced to the weak verb system. Translation is done from the Book of Ruth.

This course will establish a biblical philosophy of organization and administration for a growing fundamental church in the 21st century.

This course applies principles of separation to the textual translation issue from the standpoint of a pastor. Especially applicable to local churches, this course will enable pastors to help their lay people understand the textual issue. Westcott and Hort’s unorthodox beliefs, along with doctrinal deviations in the NIV and NASB, will be examined.

The man of God is expected to remain faithful and to resist the worldly pressures of society and liberal religion. This course will examine issues such as the contemporary church movement and Calvinism to warn pastors about current trends that are damaging the local church.

DMV 723 Genesis: Developing and Implementing a Biblical World View in Your Church (3) VIDEO
Your world view will greatly influence how you approach life and the many challenges facing the church today. This course will explain and defend the biblical world view and provide practical, biblical instruction on teaching and implementing that world view in your church’s educational and evangelistic work.

A study in the methods of managing a growing staff and coordinating expanding programs in the local church. It will look at the relationship of the church with the Christian day school and other ministries within the church.

The general purpose of this course is for students to learn the philosophies that have influenced American education. Students will examine in detail the principles of philosophy that guide the fundamental Christian school movement.

The fundamental concepts and current issues involved in human resource management will be examined in light of their practical application. These concepts and issues include the recruitment, selection, placement, training, evaluation, development, compensation, and promotion of employees. Students will learn organized topics such as structure, culture, policies and procedures, job design, employee-management relations, management development, and workplace legislation.

BAV 600 Advanced Statistical Analysis (3) VIDEO
Competency: Statistics
This course addresses forecasting principles and econometric model applications used within the business decision-making process. Using SPSS and other statistical analysis software packages, the student will analyze data using several univariate and multivariate forecasting methods with specific application to management planning and opportunities. Topics such as decision framework, hypothesis testing, data capture and analysis, analysis of variance, correlation, simple and multiple regression, and residual analysis will be discussed.

The Christian’s successful relationship with God, his family, his employer/employee, his fellow workers, and other people with whom he comes in contact are dealt with in this course.

EDV 625 Financial, Legal, and Extracurricular Aspects of Christian School Operation (3) ONLINE
The general purpose of this course is to explore key legal issues and sound financial principles in the operation of the Christian school and to examine the administrator’s involvement in the various areas of extracurricular activities.

EDV 628 Elementary Curriculum (3) ONLINE
The graduate student will learn the sequential design of the elementary school curriculum. The scope and sequence of each grade level of the elementary curriculum will be reviewed, and the student will become familiar with the content of each grade level in the elementary curriculum.

EDV 675 Secondary School Curriculum (3) ONLINE
The student is exposed to epistemology as it relates to learning and the sequential design of the high school curriculum. The student examines from a Christian perspective the philosophy, content, structure, and sequence of curriculum within each of the disciplines.
